They are our livelihood.\nTo protect our relatives in Rapid City\, NDN Collective is hosting a ‘Know Your Rights Training’ on Saturday\, Oct 12 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM MT at Holiday Inn. \n\nThis FREE training is meant to empower our youth and families. It’s an opportunity to learn how and when to invoke your rights to protect ourselves from School Resource Officers “SROs” at schools. In addition to learning what to look out for\, what questions to ask\, and what to document when you are speaking with or in the presence of “SROs.”\n\n“Our children are the most precious and vulnerable part of our community\,” said Bre Gibson\, NDN Collective Legal Coordinator. “We know from the most recent Department of Justice Report Findings that our Indigenous youth are also being targeted unfairly when it comes to police in schools. This Abolitionist training will give our families the tools they need to feel safe and help combat the school-to-prison pipeline tactics enacted by local SROs.”\n\nOur goal is to pass this important knowledge to our youth and families in our communities and to prevent our relatives from receiving criminal records.\nThis is our fourth training we have provided to the public\, with over 100 community members who have attended!\nWe are beyond thankful that we can provide these resources to our relatives and community.\n\nSign up and register today! The first 50 people who register will receive a free swag bag. \n Register NOW: ndnco.cc/kyrf \n\nDo you have additional questions about the training? \n Please contact Bre Gibson for more information\n\n#KYR #KnowYourRight #KYRTraining #FreeTraining #NDNCollective URL:https://ndncollective.org/event/kyr-training-school-resource-officer/ LOCATION:Holiday Inn\, 505 N 5th St\, Rapid City\, SD\, 57701\, United States CATEGORIES:Local Community (Rapid City, SD) ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:https://ndncollective.sfo3.digitaloceanspaces.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/07045211/Know-Your-Rights-Training-Rapid-City-10.12.2024.png ORGANIZER;CN="Bre Gibson":MAILTO:KnowYourRights@ndncollective.org END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=UTC:20241006T130000 DTEND;TZID=UTC:20241006T180000 DTSTAMP:20241002T202055Z CREATED:20240927T205046Z LAST-MODIFIED:20241002T202055Z UID:55454-1728219600-1728237600@ndncollective.org SUMMARY:Radical Imagination: Heartbeat of Turtle Island Event & Exhibit DESCRIPTION:Indigenous Artists\, Storytellers and Culture-Bearers Coming to Three Fires Territory\, AKA Chicago!\nNDN Collective and our Radical Imagination Artists are coming to Odawa\, Ojibwe and Potawatomi homelands to host a FREE art event and exhibit at the American Indian Center – Chicago.\nWe warmly invite our Relatives to attend\, celebrate\, and be in community with us.
